NewOrbit

NewOrbit is a UK-headquartered space company building satellites for Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) - a band of near-Earth space at 200–300km historically reserved for spy satellites and the International Space Station.

By flying closer to Earth, NewOrbit's satellites deliver drone-resolution imagery and direct-to-phone connectivity at a fraction of the cost of conventional constellations.

Based in Reading and founded in May 2021, NewOrbit is among the most advanced VLEO satellite companies globally and the only one of meaningful scale building from Europe, with engineers from SpaceX, NASA JPL, Tesla, Airbus, ESA and Formula 1.

The company is backed by Voyager Ventures, Lifeline Ventures and Atlantic.vc, and advised by Jean-Jacques Dordain, former Director General of ESA. NewOrbit's new manufacturing facility in the UK's Thames Valley opens in early 2027, ahead of its first satellite launch in 2028.
