Checkstep secures £3m from Alea Capital Partners to provide automated content moderation for online platforms

Checkstep is a content moderation platform that helps online platforms manage user-generated content at scale. It enables organisations to automate policy enforcement and comply with global regulations.

Checkstep, a content moderation platform for online platforms, has raised £3 million in funding led by Alea Capital Partners, with participation from Slow Ventures and LookAI. The platform provides end-to-end moderation for user-generated content and helps companies automate policy enforcement and compliance with global regulations. The funding will support continued product development, commercial expansion, and strategic partnerships.

Designed to manage large volumes of online content, the platform combines artificial intelligence with Trust and Safety expertise to automate moderation decisions and enforce policies at scale. Organisations use Checkstep to manage risk, maintain compliance, and operate across multiple jurisdictions including the EU and US, where regulatory requirements are becoming more complex.

Processing more than 60 million pieces of content each month, the platform supports customers including Trustpilot, JustGiving, Daily Mail, and MoneySavingExpert. Automation handles over 98% of moderation decisions while maintaining auditability, allowing platforms to scale operations while retaining oversight and accountability.

Founded by Guillaume Bouchard, who previously co-founded Bloomsbury AI acquired by Facebook in 2018, Checkstep builds on experience in Trust and Safety operations. Growth over the past 12 months includes strong net revenue retention and increasing demand from enterprise customers.

Trust and Safety is a critical function for any online platform. Checkstep is building the Trust and Safety infrastructure that makes it possible to keep users safe at scale. As platforms grow and regulations are increasingly enforced, this can’t be managed through fragmented tools or manual processes - it requires a unified system to enforce policy, manage risk, and operate globally. This funding allows us to accelerate our mission to power a safer digital world.
