Emerald secures £1.4m extension led by Innovate UK for preventative healthcare screening and ongoing GP support

Emerald provides a preventative healthcare platform that combines in-clinic laboratory screening with a digital service for health data and results. Members receive earlier health risk identification, ongoing GP support, treatment, prescriptions and referrals into private and NHS care.

Emerald, a preventative healthcare platform, has secured an additional £1.4 million in fundraising, taking total funding to date to £2.9 million. The latest funding combines a £700,000 grant from Innovate UK, Emerald’s second award from the organisation, with a further £700,000 in venture capital investment secured following the award.

The round is backed by all existing investors including Boost Capital Partners, alongside new investors including Sequel and Highgoal Capital, with Emerald’s valuation rising from the previous funding round. Emerald’s platform combines in-clinic laboratory screening with a digital platform that brings results, wearable data and health history together in one place, helping members identify potential health risks earlier and take control of their long-term health. Every member is paired with a GP that can diagnose, prescribe and make formal referrals into both private and NHS care where appropriate, so that members receive support beyond their initial testing.

Emerald is clinician-founded and Care Quality Commission registered, offering regulated activities including diagnostic and screening procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. The platform is authorised as a UKCA Class I medical device with the MHRA. Since the start of 2026, Emerald has grown its member base tenfold and has processed more than 100,000 laboratory tests, with repeat-screening data highlighting improvements in cholesterol levels for two out of three users, blood sugar levels dropping by a third and reduced inflammation amongst members dropping by almost half.

Over the last 12 months, Emerald has announced partnerships with Pluxee, Epassi, Yonder and other businesses across the employee benefits, fintech and fitness sectors to scale its offering to more people. This approach enables employers to include Emerald’s services as part of their existing benefits offering, giving employees access to preventative screening and a clear route into follow-up care. Emerald has significantly expanded its clinical capabilities and established revenue-generating partnerships across these sectors.

This additional funding supports commercial expansion and further development of Emerald’s products and clinical services as the platform aims to reach one million members over the next three years. The Innovate UK grant specifically supports the expansion of Emerald’s AI applications and underlying technology, with the aim of improving healthcare outcomes across the United Kingdom’s entire population. Emerald’s vision is to build a healthcare service that develops an increasingly complete understanding of each person over time, connecting their health history, screening results and ongoing care so that earlier action becomes a routine part of looking after their health.

There’s huge demand for access to simple healthcare tools that move beyond just testing. People want to understand what those results mean and the steps they can take to boost their long-term health - informed by guidance from trusted medical experts. A preventative approach to healthcare significantly improves long-term health outcomes by providing a more holistic view of a patient’s health, highlighting potential issues before they become critical, and empowering people to enter the right pathway earlier.
