Ethos raises £17m Series A led by a16z to match job seekers to opportunities beyond CVs

Ethos is a platform that evaluates professional expertise using voice conversations and existing work such as code, research and content. It matches individuals to income opportunities including consulting, expert calls and full-time roles based on what they can do rather than what they claim.

Ethos, a platform that evaluates professional expertise and matches individuals to income opportunities, has raised £17 million in a Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from XTX, Evantic and General Catalyst.

Designed to address growing challenges in hiring, the platform responds to the rise of AI-generated CVs and job applications, which have increased the volume of similar candidate profiles while reducing visibility into actual capability. Through voice conversations and analysis of existing work such as academic papers, code repositories and professional content, the system builds an understanding of each individual’s skills.

This approach allows Ethos to match users to opportunities across consulting, expert calls, market research, AI data projects and full-time roles. Platform users include professionals from accounting, banking, consulting, law, technology and healthcare, alongside skilled tradespeople such as electricians and plumbers.

A CV is a poor proxy for what someone is truly capable of. Ethos helps people to see the full shape of their expertise and where it fits in an AI-transformed economy, acting as their agent, opening doors they didn’t know existed and giving companies a far more precise way to find the people they actually need. AI is reshaping the labour market faster than our tools for valuing human expertise can keep up. Ethos is built to change that.
