Munro EV, the Glasgow-based electric 4x4 manufacturer, has secured £2 million in fresh funding from existing investor Elbow Beach and other parties. The investment will accelerate production of the company’s Series-M vehicles, purpose-built for the demanding needs of the mining, defence and construction sectors.

The funding comes as industries face growing pressure to decarbonise operations. While passenger vehicle electrification has advanced rapidly, commercial all-terrain vehicles remain largely diesel-dependent. Munro aims to change that with the Series-M, which combines rugged capability and zero emissions, offering a 1,000kg payload and more than 170 real-world miles of range per charge.

The new capital will enable Munro to scale its Glasgow production facility to fulfil customer orders worth £17m and create up to 300 new manufacturing jobs. The company is targeting an annual production capacity of up to 5,000 vehicles within six years, with early deliveries already made to Gleneagles Hotel and Denbighshire Council.

Munro’s focus on mining, defence and construction reflects the needs of sectors where vehicles must perform reliably in extreme conditions. The Series-M has been tested extensively in off-road environments, demonstrating the durability and performance essential for mission-critical use.

Elbow Beach is proud to support Munro, a standout example of Scottish advanced manufacturing. Through its focused approach, Munro is delivering a capital-light solution that accelerates decarbonisation while driving meaningful commercial benefits for the real economy.

We provide a unique combination of capability, durability and sustainability which solves decarbonisation and vehicle role issues for a number of sectors. The UK Ministry of Defence plans to procure replacements for the Land Rover and Pinzgauer vehicles in its fleet under the Land Mobility Strategy and the Munro Series-M can meet those requirements while being more capable, quieter and cleaner. This is not a lifestyle vehicle that operators have to add robustness to with aftermarket parts or upgrade kits, this is a vehicle built from the ground up to be an off-road electric vehicle that will be operated in harsh environments.
