Taxnova, an R&D tax credits automation startup, has launched from stealth with a £750,000 pre-seed round from a16z Speedrun, s16vc and Karaoke Club. The company has joined the a16z Speedrun accelerator with a platform designed to automate R&D tax credit claims.

R&D tax credits are government incentives that reduce a company’s tax bill or provide reimbursement for qualifying work, but the claims process is often slow and manual. Companies are required to assemble detailed records of qualifying research activity, which typically forces engineering teams to reconstruct months of work while finance teams only gain clarity long after the accounting year has closed.

Taxnova integrates directly with tools engineers already use, including GitHub, Jira, Linear, Slack and Notion, to automatically capture evidence of qualifying R&D work. The platform identifies relevant projects, generates technical narratives, calculates eligible costs and produces audit-ready documentation without pulling engineers away from shipping product.

Taxnova AI-powered platform extracts data from your existing systems to maximize R&D tax claims without wasting engineers’ time. 75% of time is lost on data collection and we’re solving this bottleneck.
