Trent AI launches from stealth with £10m seed round led by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital to provide layered security for AI agents

Trent AI is an agentic security startup that provides a layered security solution for AI agents and autonomous workflows. Its system monitors, assesses and mitigates risks across the lifecycle of agent-based systems to help development and security teams deploy safely.

Trent AI, an agentic security startup, has raised £10 million in a seed round led by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital, with participation from leaders at OpenAI, Spotify, Databricks and AWS. It has emerged from stealth with a layered security solution designed to secure AI agents as they evolve.

Organisations are deploying AI agents and autonomous workflows faster than security frameworks can adapt, while many development teams lack systems designed to secure these environments. Trent AI addresses this gap with a unified approach that secures agents across their lifecycle, monitoring code, infrastructure and runtime behaviour, assessing risk, and applying mitigations to maintain system integrity.

Its platform is designed to provide continuous visibility into security posture, prioritise risks based on impact, and automate remediation processes. Design partners including Canopy, Commscentre, ML@Cam, Qbeast and Weblogic have reported improved visibility, faster identification of vulnerabilities and structured remediation processes.

The founding team brings experience from Spotify, AWS, Alcion, Confluent and the University of Cambridge. Trent AI was launched in 2025 by co-founders Eno Thereska, Neil Lawrence and Zhenwen Dai, and is active in the security and AI community through partnerships with OWASP and Carnegie Mellon University’s CyLab Venture Network.

Organizations are deploying AI agents and autonomous workflows faster than their security can adapt, and most development teams using these agents and workflows have no security framework designed for their systems. This is not an easy problem to solve. Trent AI is tackling these difficult and important problems, while building the necessary security foundations and frameworks for agentic systems now and through the next decade.

Eno Thereska, Co-founder & CEO

Agent adoption is outpacing enterprise security readiness. As autonomous workflows make decisions across critical systems, a new layer of infrastructure is needed to govern, observe, and enforce safe behaviour. We believe Trent AI is well placed to define this category.

Ian Lane, Partner at Cambridge Innovation Capital

The rise of agents goes hand in hand with the rise of new security threats. Now is the right time to build the long-term foundations of security for agentic systems. Trent AI is uniquely positioned to do this, combining deep academic expertise with real-world experience building large-scale systems and working closely with design partners deploying agents today.

Saul Klein, Co-founder & Executive Chairman at LocalGlobe

Agentic systems are quickly becoming part of the software stack, but the security infrastructure around them is still early. Trent is building the foundations teams will need, to operate these systems safely at scale. I’m excited to support Eno and the team as they tackle this emerging challenge.
