AI Score, an intelligence-led AI governance startup, has raised £4 million in seed funding led by Fuel Ventures, with further backing from founding investor GALLOS Technologies. Also joining the round are Alan Morgan, co-founder of MMC Ventures and an early investor in Funding Circle and Tide, and Mo El Husseiny, Managing Partner of Ventura Capital.
Based in central London, AI Score runs a real-time governance platform that tracks and controls Generative AI and Agentic AI use across a business. As AI capabilities develop at unprecedented speed, traditional approaches to governance are struggling to keep pace, and recent incidents involving AI agents taking unintended actions beyond their operators' expectations, including interacting with external systems and real people, have highlighted how quickly the risk landscape is changing. The platform oversees agents as they are introduced across the enterprise, starting with guidance, guardrails and safety nets, then gives boards and management immediate visibility and control over those agents as they operate.
The seed round follows a £750,000 pre-seed in November 2025 and comes amid rapid commercial growth, with substantial revenue growth in the first six months of 2026. Customers span highly regulated and data-sensitive industries, including a Magic Circle law firm, a FTSE 250 company, a leading UK fintech and major global consumer brands.
Co-founder and CEO Alex Harland was previously part of the founding team at the UK's National Cyber Security Centre, and Co-founder and COO Benita Tibb is a former City lawyer. The senior advisory team includes co-founder Jonathan Kewley, an international lawyer and AI expert; Sir Jeremy Fleming, former Director of GCHQ; Colin Bell, Chair of Starling Bank and former CEO of HSBC Bank Europe; and Nick Trim, former Co-Founder, Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Darktrace.
New funding will accelerate development of the platform and expand go-to-market capabilities, with a key focus on scaling Agentic AI management. Longer term, the ambition is to build a globally significant AI company from the United Kingdom, drawing on the country's strengths in cybersecurity, financial services and regulated industries.
AI operates at a scale and level of automation that traditional governance simply wasn't built for. Organisations need to be able to move quickly and capture the opportunity AI presents, without losing visibility or control. This investment allows us to accelerate our ambition to reinvent governance for the AI age, building intelligence directly into the process and giving organisations the confidence to win with AI.
AI Score is tackling a problem that is becoming more urgent for every organisation. Alex, Benita and the team have combined deep expertise with impressive early commercial momentum, and we believe they have the potential to build a category-leading UK technology company.
AI is creating enormous opportunities for businesses, but leadership teams need confidence that they understand how it is being used across their organisations. AI Score is building an approach that can turn governance from a constraint into a driver of value.
