AUAR secures £340k Innovate UK grant to scale timber housing construction platform

AUAR develops robotic micro factories and software that automate the design and manufacture of timber housing components, enabling faster, lower cost and more predictable construction.

Automated Architecture (AUAR), a London-based startup, has secured a £341,000 grant from Innovate UK to scale its building system and micro-factory platform for mid-rise timber housing up to six storeys.

Founded by Mollie Claypool, AUAR focuses on sustainable housing through its automated construction platform. The product suite, including Robotic Micro-Factories and AUAR MasterBuilder software, addresses inefficiencies in the construction value chain, providing increased predictability, oversight, and environmental benefits while reducing financial risks.

The funding will support the development of a mid-rise timber prototype, regulatory compliance, and testing, with the 14-month project commencing in January 2025. The initiative aims to enhance construction sustainability and scalability.
