Edgify, a London-based edge AI platform for physical retail, has raised £6.7 million in Series A+ funding from Rank Ventures and Mangrove Capital Partners. The round brings total funding to £19 million and will initially accelerate the rollout of a platform that connects, orchestrates and trains AI models across in-store edge devices such as self-checkouts, cameras, scales and point-of-sale systems.
By converting these devices into a single coordinated intelligence layer, Edgify enables hardware to learn locally and share insights across an entire network without raw data being sent to the cloud. This approach reduces cloud infrastructure costs, lowers latency and ensures customer and operational data never leaves the store, in contrast to competitors that rely on expensive servers in dedicated spaces that take many months to install.
The global Edge AI market is projected to grow from $36 billion to roughly $386 billion by 2034. Running a hardware-agnostic platform across existing in-store equipment from manufacturers including Zebra Technologies and Bizerba, Edgify is targeting a $15.8 billion retail computer vision market by addressing loss prevention.
Having proven its core model in grocery retail through deployments with leading grocery retailers across the United States and Europe, Edgify already recognises produce and identifies scan avoidance, product-switching and cart-based loss to assist shoppers and staff in real time. Beyond physical retail, the technology is ready for use across transportation, logistics, manufacturing and warehouse operations, which all face the same reliance on legacy systems, cloud bandwidth constraints and uneconomic costs of deploying on-premise servers.
We founded Edgify on a simple conviction: intelligence should live where data is created, and devices should learn as one. A store is a fleet of machines that can see, decide and learn together, without a single byte leaving the building. Retail is just the beginning. The operational friction Edgify has solved in grocery and convenience stores can be replicated in any industry where fleets of devices meet the physical world, as demonstrated by our expansion into QSR, distribution centres, and apparel. This funding will fuel our growth, enabling us to take the intelligence layer we've built for retail and deploy it across the global industrial landscape, turning millions of isolated machines into self-learning real-time networks that operate independently of the cloud.
The winners in AI will be the companies that own the point where data is created, and in physical retail, that point is at the edge. Edgify has spent years building technology that trains and runs models on ordinary in-store hardware, and its traction with major grocers and partners like Zebra shows the market is more than ready. We backed this round because Edgify is uniquely positioned to become the core orchestration layer for physical retail AI today, with a clear path to owning the broader edge MLOps category in the future.
Retail is the ultimate testing ground for edge AI, because it has more smart devices per site than almost any other industry, and real-world constraints on cost, latency and privacy. Loss prevention is where the value shows up first, and it is why the world's leading grocers are working with us today. But the real breakthrough is the underlying platform: translating isolated in-store hardware into a unified system for future AI applications. This funding lets us scale both the use cases and the Edgify platform itself.
