Meticulous, an autonomous software testing startup, has raised £11 million in funding from Chemistry with participation from Menlo Ventures and a group of angel investors from companies including Poolside, Dropbox, Vercel, OpenAI, Stripe, Adobe, Hex, and Cursor. The platform automatically generates and maintains test suites for engineering organisations shipping changes across large codebases.
Shipping extremely fast with AI depends on truly exhaustive testing, and testing that gives anything less than full confidence holds teams back. Reaching that level requires testing at a scale orders of magnitude beyond traditional testing, which in turn requires deterministic browsers for zero noise, fully automated generation and evolution of the test suite, efficient test execution and curation, and robust coverage guarantees. Deciding whether a change is good to ship also takes more than the absence of failures on pre-defined assertions, because teams need to quickly understand and visualise the full impact of the change and judge its suitability from there. Meticulous solves both without noise, at huge scale and fully autonomously, generating and maintaining thousands of flows to cover every edge case across the millions of lines of code in customer codebases, including Dropbox, Notion, Wiz, ElevenLabs and many of the world's leading engineering organisations. Even a single pixel difference in the video streams of any of those flows is detected, and the logic behind it tested, before any production change is shipped.
Summarised data allows engineers, PMs and designers to preview every impact before hitting merge, and allows agents to iterate on a change prior to pushing it for human review, giving those agents visibility into realistic data over every edge case and the impact of their change upon it. Customers moving closer to truly exhaustive testing have been observed moving at unprecedented speed, and the platform is being taken to the next level to allow another step change in velocity for those customers.
We piloted the tool, were immediately impressed and rolled it out across the entire engineering organization. Meticulous is unlike anything else, developers love it and it is now an essential guardrail of our software development process.
Meticulous has built one of the most deeply loved products that I have come across in my eighteen years of investing.
