Modern Milkman, the sustainable grocery delivery service, has secured a £10 million investment from Salica Investments, bringing its total funding to over £50 million. The funding will accelerate growth across the UK, support expansion into the US, and drive further innovation in sustainable doorstep delivery.
Modern Milkman operates a sustainable grocery delivery service built around a doorstep delivery model for households across the UK. It uses its delivery infrastructure and logistics platform to make sustainable choices more convenient for customers, supplying groceries and household essentials through a closed-loop system that reduces single-use packaging.
The investment will support the expansion and evolution of Modern Milkman’s doorstep proposition, including the introduction of a broader suite of integrated services. The funding comes from Salica Investments’ Growth Debt Fund, marking Modern Milkman as the first direct-to-consumer business in the fund’s portfolio.
Founded by Simon Mellin in 2019, Modern Milkman now serves more than 100,000 households across the UK. In January 2024, it expanded into the US through a strategic acquisition and currently operates across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Ohio, and New York.
