Nous, a household AI agent that helps families reduce life admin and save money on routine spending, has raised £13 million from Heartcore Capital and existing seed investor Mosaic Ventures. Chalfen Ventures, Joyance Partners and Bain Future Back Ventures also participated in the round. Nous plans to use the investment to expand internationally, add new features, broaden the range of regulated activities its agents can manage and extend its capabilities for everyday chores.
The Nous agent manages bills and contracts for services including energy, broadband, mobile telephony and car insurance. Once a household hands responsibility to Nous, the agent can make decisions and take action on behalf of users, rather than only providing recommendations or reminders. The tool finds cheaper deals, carries out provider switches, cancels subscriptions, fills out forms, and spots problematic contract terms or expensive renewal traps. Beyond finances, Nous also manages family calendars, sends deadline reminders, finds local tradespeople and books appointments, aiming to remove the mental load of day-to-day household admin.
After exiting beta in 2025, Nous now manages more than £685m of household spending across the United Kingdom, covering an average of £2,765 of annual spending per home. The agent saves a typical household £734 across their bills. Almost 250,000 homes already rely on Nous, with tens of thousands signing up each week and one new household joining every minute as interest in AI agents for household tasks grows.
Nous positions its agent as a specialist tool focused on household spending and admin, rather than a general-purpose assistant. The product combines large language models with rules-based logic for specific and sensitive actions, and operates within regulatory requirements as an FCA-registered tool able to support regulated activities such as purchasing insurance. Nous states that it does not sell customer data or make money through advertising, and presents this model as ensuring that agents act in users’ interests rather than balancing the needs of customers and suppliers.
This isn't a toy for tech bros. The vast majority of our users are women, typically working mums, who have to carry much of the mental load for their household. They want something that works and that they know is safe and reliable. The speed at which Nous is being adopted demonstrates its ability to save people huge amounts of money and time. We're at the start of a profound shift in consumer behaviour enabled by AI. UK households spend £1.7tn a year on things they pay for automatically and don't have time to think about. We predict that more than half of that will be managed by agents within the next decade.
Personal agents will transform the way we make household purchasing decisions and thus transform the economy in ways that benefit the end consumer. We're deeply excited by the work that Greg and the Nous team are doing at the frontier of personal agents and are thrilled to be backing them as they built a next-gen platform.
