Portia AI, a London-based startup building enterprise-ready AI agents, has raised Β£4.4 million in seed funding. The round was led by General Catalyst, with support from Firstminute Capital and Stem AI, the new venture from former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear.
Founded in 2024 by Emma Burrows and Mounir Mouawad, the company offers a secure platform for businesses to create and deploy their own AI agents, with a focus on internal tools that keep humans in the loop and ensure strong governance.
Burrows previously served as UK CTO at Stripe and led engineering at Charlotte Tilbury. Mouawad held senior product roles at Stripe and Google, where he was involved in the rollout of Google Pay across 30+ markets.
The company plans to use the funding to expand its engineering team and launch new features throughout 2025.
