Radical Forge, a Middlesbrough-based games studio, has raised £2.6 million from NPIF II – Mercia Equity Finance, a fund managed by Mercia Ventures under the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II. Founded in 2017 by Bruce Slater and Freddie Babord, Radical Forge is known for its contributions to well-known games like Gang Beasts and Sea of Thieves. This new funding will enable Radical Forge to expand its team by creating 15 new jobs, secure larger contracts, and launch its latest game, Southfield, a physics-driven farming sandbox game, in early 2025. The investment supports Radical Forge's growth strategy, leveraging current market conditions to attract top talent and enhance Middlesbrough's emerging gaming industry.
